Eight weeks ago, Madhura DasGupta, Founder and CEO of Aspire For Her, wrote to me requesting to mentor Priya. A young Computer Science student with many interests, I found Priya riding on highs of hopes and lows of disappointments.

How do you know if you are an optimist or a pessimist?

During the session, we discovered how some disappointments shadow our positive attributes, achievements, and accolades. We dug deeper to discover the fullness Priya had, and the so-called setbacks were only work in progress in preparation for a bigger stage.

Ways to help you train your brain to be more optimistic.

I recommended she write a disappointment diary to understand the validity of her disappointments. Simultaneously,  I also recommended she write a Gratitude Diary to acknowledge and attract the gifts in her life. When she balanced the two, she realised a lot of negativity was self-inflicted, which was her turning point.

Priya now works with a positive and proactive mindset, ready to face challenges with optimism.

I am grateful for mentoring Priya; it is truly humbling to see the positive impact in her life.

It takes courage to take the first step to seek help. Once taken, there is no looking back. You get transformed.
